How To Be Saved

Steps to Be Saved

Salvation is a gift from God through faith in Jesus Christ, involving a personal relationship with Him, repentance, and a life transformed by His grace. Below are the steps to be saved, which emphasize Scripture (the Bible as the sole authority), the role of Jesus as Savior, and the importance of living a life in harmony with God’s commandments.

Steps to Be Saved

  1. Recognize Your Need for Salvation:
    • Understand that all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from God, and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
    • Acknowledge your personal need for forgiveness and reconciliation with God, recognizing that you cannot save yourself through good works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
  2. Believe in Jesus Christ as Your Savior:
    • Accept that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross for your sins, rose again, and is your only Mediator with God (John 3:16; 1 Timothy 2:5).
    • Trust in His atoning sacrifice as the complete payment for your sins, believing that His righteousness covers you (Isaiah 53:5-6; Romans 5:8).
  3. Repent of Your Sins:
    • Confess your sins to God with a sincere heart, seeking forgiveness (1 John 1:9).
    • Repentance involves a genuine sorrow for sin and a decision to turn away from it, relying on the Holy Spirit for strength (Acts 3:19; 2 Corinthians 7:10).
    • Adventists view repentance as an ongoing process, enabled by God’s grace, leading to transformation.
  4. Accept Salvation by Faith:
    • Receive salvation as a free gift through faith in Jesus, not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12).
    • Surrender your life to Christ, trusting Him to justify you (declare you righteous) and sanctify you (make you holy) through His Spirit (Titus 3:5; Galatians 2:20).
    • Faith is active, producing a life of obedience and good works as a natural result (James 2:17-18).
  5. Be Baptized as a Public Commitment:
    • Follow Jesus’ example and command by being baptized by immersion, symbolizing your death to sin and new life in Christ (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 6:3-4).
    • Baptism is a public declaration of your faith and commitment to follow Jesus, joining the body of believers (Acts 2:38).
  6. Live a Life Guided by the Holy Spirit:
    • Seek a daily relationship with God through prayer, Bible study, and worship (John 15:4-5; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).
    • Allow the Holy Spirit to transform your character to reflect Christ’s love and obedience (Galatians 5:22-23; Romans 12:1-2).
    • Keep God’s commandments, including the fourth commandment to observe the seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday) as a sign of loyalty to God (Exodus 20:8-11; John 14:15).
  7. Grow in Faith Through Fellowship and Service:
    • Join a community of believers for support and growth, participating in church activities and fellowship (Hebrews 10:24-25).
    • Share your faith through acts of service, compassion, and witnessing, reflecting God’s love to others (Matthew 5:16; 25:34-40).
    • Stay faithful, watching and praying, as salvation is both a present reality and a future hope (Titus 2:11-13; Matthew 24:42-44).
